A thought provoking post on the happenings at JU. It should come - TopicsExpress

A thought provoking post on the happenings at JU. It should come in with a contra perspective and thats provided by a comment in the original post which I provide here. I couldnt help thinking that this was such a ripe moment for a true AAP to have been there. One which engaged the intellect, energy and will of the students for the cause of a common good. A sense of direction which the hackneyed parties cant provide. But AK and his ilk have ensured that AAP was equally hackneyed. Irrespective do read on. The rejoinder first (edited for readability) then the original article. I have been a part of this movement since the very first day till date. I have been a part of every dialogue, the indefinite sit-in, the imposition of police violence and the huge rallies. What has not been established here factually is that the students spoke to the Dean of Students, the pro-Vice Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor numerous times. The Dean of students did not forward our deputation, the pro-VC said I dont know continuously in an hour long interview. On the 15th of September the Vice Chancellor addressed the media saying that hes unaware of any protests going on at the University even when the police were sent to the campus on the very first day of the sit-in. We received such threats of violence since the very first day.Talking of the violent rhetoric and the lack of a true revolutionary zeal and the immortality of the power centre, I have to say only one thing. We are not revolutionaries Mam. Our batchmate complained of having been molested. The Vice-Chancellor admittedly obstructed justice and then unleashed State forces upon us. We were brutally beaten up. And if thousands of people have taken to the streets to protest against the act, where is the problem? Yes, we used violent rhetoric. But the rhetoric of the State and the rhetoric of protest are both imposed upon us. Language and the entire institution of semantics imposes upon us its own premises. Yes, this wont change the world. However the bourgeois social system will break itself when it begins to question itself. The revolution of thinkers shall occur only when people are forced to think. Thank you mam for the criticism that this post attempted. We arent potent enough to break the semantic institution now. Were only seeking justice because our Vice Chancellor beat us up and molested our friends. An eyewitness account on how the JU action started needs to be added here (pls note I have no way of verifying it). The police came and asked the students to disperse, stating that they needed to move the VC. Reportedly a female student turned to a fellow student asked for a biri and then blowing smoke into the inspectors face said Who the heck is this . Hells supposed to have broken after this.
