A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth from her neighborhood in a village in South Kashmir’s Pulwom district on Sunday. Residents in Pampar’s Karnaval village said the girl was raped by a youth who lives in the village when her mother had gone out to fetch water. The girl’s father wasn’t at home. The girl was shifted to the sub-district hospital, about 14 kms from here, where doctors referred her to Lal Ded hospital in Srinagar. Her condition is stated to be critical. A police official told Kashmir Dispatch the girl was raped but they were looking for the suspect. “We are investigating and it being confirmed as to who raped the minor,” he said. The accused youth, however, is absconding.
