A time when God was not there, Manila, Philippines, Feb. 1945 This is a horrific picture showing the destruction of Manila. Look at the bottom of the picture to see the graves and the dug hole stacked over full with civilian bodies. I believe this is as I have read that during the height of the battle the bodies were dangerous to bury because the Japanese were shooting all Filipinos they seen. Can anyone that didn’t go through this begin to imagine the horrors they were personally witness to. There was orders that was found on a dead Japanese officer that said to kill all enemies of Japan and the Filipino men, women, and children were considered enemies to be eliminated. These orders apparently came straight from the top command in Japan. Photograph taken by a “Life” magazine photographer.
