A total of $76,900 worth of scholarships was awarded Wednesday evening during the annual Webster City High School Scholarship Award Ceremony at Prem Sahai Auditorium. There were 97 scholarships presented to 45 of the 112 graduating seniors. About 35% of the seniors applied and turned in at least one scholarship applications to the high school counseling office this year. Webster City High School Guidance Counselor Sue Jaycox said that along with the 10 Cessna departmental scholarships for $200, about 80 seniors have applied for the Cessna scholarship for the 2014-15 school year. At this time 22 seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 percent will get another $100 and six 3.75 scholars will receive another $200 from the Cessna scholarship fund. The amount of Cessna Scholarship money for the Class of 2014 that will be used for next year will be over $20,000. KQWC Radio congratulates all of the students honored Wednesday evening. Following the awards program the annual Baccalaureate service was held with music and student speakers reflecting on their years in school. Featured speakers for the service was Webster City High School instructor Luanne Garvey and Rev. Craig Blaufuss of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Today is the final day for the seniors at Webster City High School. This Sunday will mark the final time the class will be together as its Graduation Day for the Class of 2014. The ceremony will be held at the Webster City High School beginning at 2:00 p.m.
