Phallus paintings in Bhutan are esoteric symbols which is said to drive away evils and are seen on the walls and doors of village houses all over Bhutan. Especially on the hike to Chimi Lhakhang monastery in Punakha, it is everywhere, you can also buy one. The monastery was built in honour of Lama Drukpa Kunley who lived in the 15-16th century and who was popularly known as the Divine Mad Man and who was the one from where this believe of Phallus originated.
