A true story :- Few months back I met a lady in London. I had a nice chat over a cup of coffee. I told her that I’m from Pune. She was clueless. I described Pune as Oxford of the East, Detroit of east (Pensioner’s Paradise!) etc. In vain so I took my phone off and showed the location in Google maps. In the end I told her that we are 120 miles away from Mumbai and The next thing I heard was ‘oh brilliant, Mumbai….. God’s own city’ I had a question mark on my face coz generally it is for Kerela. (God’s own country). She added something to her earlier remark “God’s own city .. coz Sachin lives in Mumbai’…I was stunned! We were supposed to meet for 15-20 minutes. Next one hour we talked about Sachnism. Mind you she was French, citizen of a non playing cricketing nation. My American Friend told me once “Dude you voice is squeaky, just like Sachin”….I met so many people having so much to say about a phenomenon called Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. We grew up watching you. You have always been a source of inspiration for a billion Indians and many generations to come.....!!
