A true story with a true lesson... A six-year-old boy was standing in front of a pet store with his nose pressed against the window...his eyes riveted to a black-and-white-spotted puppy jumping around in the display window. The boy went inside and told the owner that he had $.75 and wanted to buy the puppy. The store owner said, That puppy costs $250! The boys face fell, his shoulders slumped in disappointment. Just then, the mother dog came trotting out of the back room with four little puppies right behind her. One puppy lagged four or five paces behind the mother, limping and dragging his back legs, desperately trying to keep up. The little boy pointed to the lame puppy and shouted, I want that one! The pet owner said, Son, you dont want that puppy! He was born without a hip socket. He will never be able to run and jump, to do all the fun things puppies and little boys like to do together! The little boy reached down and pulled up his pant legs, pointing to the heavy steel braces on both sides of his legs, a result of polio. With tears in his eyes, he said, I need that puppy because that puppy can understand me, and I can understand him. Ill give you $.75 now and $.75 each week until Ive paid for him in full. The boy placed his money on the counter and took the puppy home, tucked under his arm as a priceless treasure. The little boy saw the puppy through the eyes of love. Who do YOU see through the eyes of love? The Bible tells us that God is love, and they that have not love, have not God.
