A truly splendid Loud Session yesterday with Nog Cavanagh and Michael Briggs, which was an object lesson in delivering relentless, stoner-rock grooves . Its amazing how when we get together its all rather effortless. Also, the Blackstar HT-Metal pedal I bought is a truly astonishing piece of kit; even through a crappy rehearsal 50-watt Marshall head (one of the new ones, with a valve power stage and lots of useless digital effects you dont need and are best kept firmly switched OFF), it sounded spectacular - cant wait to use it with the Laney! Similarly, it was the first time Ive had the opportunity to play the Ibanez Prestige guitar I bought back in August, just before heading out to China. Its an extraordinary instrument - easily the best electric guitar Ive ever owned (and that includes my much-missed Yamaha SG2000). Indeed, so good was the sound yesterday that it was sometimes hard to believe it was actually me playing the guitar!!
