A very big thank you to the volunteers from Singapore Chinese Girls School for a job really well done for this month’s Home Sweet Home event! They have not only helped to pack and distribute the items, but have also taken the extra effort to introduce every item the bag to the old folks to make sure they know how to consume/use them. On top of that, they have managed to feedback valuable information on the challenges that some of the residents face. This will help us a great deal in fine-tuning our programme to benefit the homes. It is also very encouraging to note that more of the resident volunteers are starting to get their children to join in the fun as well (our youngest recruit being 6 years old), making the process more enjoyable and light-hearted for everyone. As residents of the area, their familiarity with some of their neighbours have helped in breaking the ice for the SCGS volunteers to speak with the folks. Hopefully in time to come, they would have gotten acquainted with even more people in their neighbourhood to re-ignite that kampung spirit in the community. And of course, the distribution couldn’t have gone on without the generous sponsorship from several individuals for the event. Not forgetting the members of the Jalan Kukoh Resident Committee for doing the background coordination work for this event to run so smoothly. Thank you everyone of you for contributing to yet another successful Home Sweet Home event!!! We’re already looking forward to our next HSH on 10th August! Till then…
