A very competent and upright senior PAS Officer after getting tired of fighting with the Politicians and after getting fed up of the rotten system with which we have to fight each day took early retirement. This is his email to other PAS Colleagues. Dear colleagues, friends, seniors, juniors et al Today I have applied for premature retirement. Only regret is that it took me five long years to take this simple decision. I am no mood to make a long farewell sermon of whys and hows of it. Simply put, I reached the conclusion that I and civil service dont deserve each other. Through this message i wish to thank all those who put up with me as my seniors, juniors and peers despite my, most often, non-kosher views, attitude and practices. I am also beholden to all those who supported me at bad times (of my own doing). Its been thirty long years in this never ending journey on a downhill slide. And a painful one where I witnessed the old steel-frame degenerate into a competing bunch of aye-sayers and proud to be known for their political connections rather than neutral civil servants wedded to the dogma of PUBLIC INTEREST. Well I was part of that slide and share the proportionate guilt burden. I also wish to share the sense of freedom and exhilaration that I experienced today after putting in that piece of paper. Wish I had done it sooner. Those who are still out there fighting it out, my prayers are with you. May you succeed. Forgive me as the faint-hearted. May Allah be with all of you and guide you to the right choices and give you the courage to say NO when it ought to be said. Very warm regards
