A very different setup of weather for us Friday and Saturday and possibly on Sunday. We have a more moist atmosphere about to take shape throughout Burke, Caldwell, Catawba and McDowell Counties. You will notice it tomorrow morning as our lows may not get out of the 60s. As the warming of the day and the more moisture we receive in the area, we will see those afternoon thunderstorms develop. These storms will be scattered in nature on Friday and more widespread Saturday. Friday 40% of storms and Saturday 60% of storms Sunday 30% of storms. Any storm Friday has the capability of producing very heavy rain, gusty winds, vivid cloud to ground lightning and maybe even some small hail. These storms will begin in the Mountains first affecting NW Burke, NW Caldwell, and NW McDowell. Then begin to form in the Foothills of Greater Burke, Greater Caldwell, Greater McDowell and Catawba County. Friday night into Saturday we see an old tropical low currently located over Northern Mexico, that will make its way with a cold front into Western North Carolina. This MCV will likely ramp up the moisture inflow from the Gulf of Mexico. So are likely to see very heavy tropical downpours over the forecast area. So we could see some isolated flooding in some areas. Storms will not be as intense as we wont have as much sunlight to destabilize the atmosphere as much, but with the storms we will see a lot of lightning. This will not be an all day washout, but we wont see as much sun as we have been seeing. Sunday depending on where the cold front washes out we could see more storms and rain or a nicer sunnier day. If the front washes out over us or near us we are likely to see more storms and showers. If the front washes out east of Interstate 77 we should see much more sunnier and pleasant conditions. So in closing Friday and Saturday we stand the chance to see strong storms and heavy rain. Something we havent experienced this year. Humidity will ramp up big time. Temps remain in the 80s and not an all day washout, so you should be able to get out between storms and showers, just make sure you keep and eye on the sky and sign up for our text alerts.
