A very difficult day dealing with the horrific attack that took place at the Ward End mosque. It was great to see the local community working with the police in apprehending the individual. Our thoughts & prayers are with all those who were injured last nite & we wish them all a speedy recovery. The story was not abt racial or hatred crime. It is about how we the society now have to nake difficult decisions on how to deal with individuals who have mental issues. Is it right tht we integrate them back into the community with the inherent risks of possible rampages. The attack last nite could have easily resulted in the death of innocents members d the public and/or a police officer. This has to be avoided at all costs. We have already had a tragic death of a tennager on the Hagley Road by an individual with mental issues. Surely the time is right for the central government to look into how we deal with those individuals who have mental issues?
