A very familiar actor came into the world on this day in 1907. Burgess Meredith was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of an MD. He enjoyed a very long career; from 1930-1996. He acted in many notable films in the 40s, to find himself blacklisted due to the House on UnAmerican Activities terror. Returning after a 7-year film drought, Mr. M. was nominated for an Academy Award in both Rocky, and The Day of the Locust. Mr. Meredith was all over television for many years, playing The Penguin in the Batman series, and 4-appearances on The Twilight Zone (Time Enough to Last, Mr. Dingle, the Strong, and The Obsolete Man to name 3). 4 wives, including Chaplins ex, Paulette Goddard, and other TV and film work kept him busy until Alzeimers Disease and Melanoma took him down in 1997. An incredible 89-year journey for this man! Happy birthday Burgess!
