A very good first interview on nufcTv yesterday with Dan King and Loic Remy, and the Frenchman comes across as a confident player, and this article is not a word-for-word translation, but it covers the topics covered – and if you have nufcTV subscription, then you just have to watch the video. Remy and Kinnear yesterday Remy answered in French and his words were translated – so he will need to learn English fairly quickly – just like the rest of our French contingent.. Loic said it was difficult to imagine what St. James’ Park would be like with 52,000 screaming Geordies in it, but it was a big stadium and he was looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere when it’s full. Loic was asked if he knew much about Newcastle’s (great) history and he said he knew there were some great players that had left a legacy at Newcastle, like Alan Shearer for instance, and he knew of some of the great French players of the past, and how well they did and adapted to the culture, and they had created a great impression of French players in the City. Remy said he knew nearly all of the French players at Newcastle, but he wanted to get to know all the Newcastle players and not just stick with the French players, so he could understand and experience the culture, and that it was important to do that. The Frenchman said that he had noticed playing at QPR in the Premier League, that teams can win or lose a game in a split-second, so that it was important for players to play to their full extent until the last minute of the game. He said he hoped to settle in as quickly as possible on Tyneside, and he saw no reason why he couldn’t do that, and the quality of the players at Newcastle was just excellent, and he hoped the Newcastle fans would accept him into the team as soon as possible Remy has had a problem with his calf in pre-season, but he hopes to train as soon as possible and get back to full fitness, and it looks like he could play some part against Braga on Saturday, but we have to think that’s unlikely. Dan King asked him if Remy would be worth the wait, after Newcastle tried to sign him in January, and Loic said you’ll have to wait and see, but that he is a player who will give his all for this club, and he hoped to make the French squad for the World Cup in Brazil next summer, by playing well for Newcastle United. The video showed Remy getting his medical, and talking with Joe Kinnear and Alan Pardew, and out on the hallowed turf of St. James’ Park.
