A very good post which explains the situation for next week and why I have been talking about the potential for even higher temperatures and an increase in thundery activity. I would just add that it is uncertain what would happen after this, i.e. whether we would see a breakdown or whether high pressure may stay close enough to keep things settled and warm or even whether high pressure may build in more strongly again after a brief breakdown. Hopefully this will become more clear by the time I do my week ahead post on Sunday.
