A very long day at Duke with some more surprising twists. First, all of my blood counts look awesome and still in remission...which is amazing to say at all!! Then, I found out my sister is not a match for transplant, which was kinda expected because it was only a 1 in 4 chance. Then a bombshell...not a single person in the entire INTERNATIONAL database was a match. Statistically, a Caucasian female has the best odds of a match overall. (I must be a really mixed up mutt) :) The doctors were stunned, and all I could do was laugh. Ive been praying every day for God to help me make the decision on the transplant, and here it seems that He has literally answered my prayer. The path has been made...no transplant. I will continue to be monitored once a month to keep a check on my counts. If I ever relapse, then I still have one last effort in a cord blood transplant. This is not an ideal situation, but i feel at peace today. I accept this as another turn on this crazy ride. I will continue to enjoy every minute, and know that God has a plan for me.
