A very similar dynamic exists here in Nevada. The one added facet that is not mentioned in this article is that the Republican Party, as well as the American Independent Party, has actually initiated Tea Parties that arent true tea parties, but merely extensions of their own political party, here in Nevada, specifically to support certain candidates of that party. How do you know the difference? Look at their level of activism as election dates draw near as opposed to any other time, and look closely at the candidates they endorse. Tea party principles are constitutional principles, NOT political principles...nor candidates. The GOP, as all political parties, have their own agenda -and loyal boot lickers- and if something does not fit in that agenda it will be dismissed and/or attacked. This is absolute buffoonery. According to statistics (which admittedly are skewed at best), the Nevada voting demographic is split in thirds of nearly equal numbers of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Those are just the registered voters. Thats doesnt take into account that nearly half of Clark County (where most of the citizens of Nevada live) citizens arent even registered to vote, nor does that take into account all the illegal alien voters or voter fraud (oh yes, it does happen here). I know the Republican Party, as do the other parties, spends a nice chunk of their budget studying demographics. So why do they insisted on continuing to target the relatively small percentage of SUPER VOTERS (ppl who have a record of voting in every election - yes this can be traced), and ignore such a vast portion of the populace? Ill tell you.. because they use the strategy of putting all their money where they think the biggest payoff is. It has nothing to do with wanting to reach ppl or serve ppl. It has everything to do with just trying to win. And if you cant give them the biggest chance of winning for their money, you will be dismissed - and/or attacked. Just because this strategy accidentally worked once does not mean it will continue to work. The GOP better wake up to see that a steadily increasing number of GOP voters are growing increasingly disenchanted with that party. The Tea Party IS We The People. We are sick to death of all the political games, we dont care about party politics, we love our country, weve been mocked and dismissed for far too long and now we are standing up and taking control. Get with it or get out of the way. I will say that here in Clark County there are some very GOOD GOP candidates who, to their credit, have stepped outside the party line and bravely stood up and committed to working with the Tea Party In An Effort To Bring Integrity back to politics. These are the true peoples candidates, and if you want to know who they are, YOU have to get involved. Which is what America was always intended to be.
