A week after attending Yorks Heritage Jam on the subject of cemeteries I come across this. My groups output was misunderstood for not being a thing but a thought that we tried to track throughout several media: that cemeteries are still relevant as the places where we try to commune with the dead. Try to. It is a selfishy sentimental act, soothing only to us but not to the rot beneath, nor softening in any way the hard life so ended. Nevertheless, the intimacy of this approach gets something fundamentally right. Its ancestor worship, 21st century style.
