A week ago, we introduced Trudy her new crate. She was awfully afraid of it and would not step into it. We used shaping and it took us some time before she finally jumped in with all fours, but would bolt out immediately. And when her pawrents tried to close the crate door, she would struggle to get out. Yesterday, this is what we witnessed. Trudys pawrents worked so hard and managed to achieve this! Now, Trudy loves her crate so much that she kept wanting to go in! The next step is to put a command to it so Trudy will only go in when told to do so. See how she would rather stay inside even when the crate door is open? (Crate training is fantastic for training your dog to learn to be by itself. It also helps if you need to toilet train your dog, or if you have guests over who arent very fond of furry animals. More importantly, it teaches your dog impulse control.)
