A week or two ago Marlene asked how we all got inspiration. I thought about her question a lot. (I have to say up front that inspiration is not my problem. Getting in and making art is my problem.) I walk and look and photograph, mainly — Ive taken over 100,000 photos on my walks in the last two years since my doctor told me to exercise. But mainly it is looking, and trying to compose pictures as I walk and photograph nature. Check out some of my photos on my Facebook page. But I also listen to art related podcasts like Savvy Painter and Artists Helping Artists when I walk. I also read art magazines and scour the web for art related subjects and videos. One of my favorite video series is a program about art and artists that is from Australia. In each episode the host, Graeme Stevenson — a fine artist himself, visits with quite talented artists. Even though this is a TV show, it is promptly available on the web soon after is broadcast. Oil, acrylics, water, pastel... the media is always changing and the artists and their styles are as different from week to week as can be. This link is to his YouTube channel which has about 24+ half hour shows (about 24 minutes each because there are no commercial). I hope all of you take a peek and get something out of the shows.
