A well-written, well-informed, fast-paced piece. The Russia that existed even a few short months ago is dead. There has been a fascist coupe staged by Putin against his own older, more cautious, less deranged self and his own political regime of the recent past. The new Russias political model now is an orthodox version of Iran. Everyone who doesnt want to live in this European Iran would be well advised to leave the country now, before its too late. It seems that only an internal coup, finishing Putins rule and destroying the core of his regime, can save the country in near-term perspective. Through repression and infiltration, there is no meaningful opposition activism left. The main opposition leaders have all been forced to flee the country, isolated or placed under house arrest. The protest movement is dead. We believe most of the people who took to the streets of Moscow back in 2011 have emigrated,” one Russian official familiar with the matter says. And we believe the rest will soon follow.
