A woman from Northampton believes she may have been bitten by the UK’s most venomous spider. Claudia Caneda, of Edghill Road, in Duston, found what she believed to be a false widow spider crawling up the wall of her bedroom last week. Mrs Caneda managed to catch the spider in a glass, but she believes she may have been bitten by the arachnid last month. She said: “My husband and I both thought we had been bitten by a mosquito. “My husband said he thought something had brushed past him when he was in bed and my arm swelled up a bit like a wasp’s sting.” Mrs Caneda said the appearance of the venomous spider was particularly worrying as her 10-week old baby sleeps in the same bedroom it was found in.
