A wonderful night in Basel (north Switzerland) staying with friends Rita and Alfonse. Traditional raclette was the meal: individual mini shovels of raclette cheese under a table grill (in the old days it was a whole cheese on the fire) then poured over pickled everything (including fruit), sliced meats and hot potatoes. Delicious! Then we woke up today and it is St Nicholas day (the original santa claus) so we had a traditional themed breakfast of St Nick bread, cheeses and jam to see us on our journey.... A four hour drive later and we have just arrived at stunning Lake Como, ITALY(!) where we will be for two nights before heading to our final destination! :-)
