A word about Pope Francis and the church of nice. The lamestream - TopicsExpress

A word about Pope Francis and the church of nice. The lamestream media would have us believe that this Pontiff supports a church of this world, a church which no longer concerns itself with petty theological & dogmatic details, a church which should accept everything and embrace every belief (and non-belief) in order to widen its appeal and regain the popular touch, a church which recognises that good and bad are not absolutes, but relative concepts according to the individual. This attitude has infiltrated the minds and souls of many faithful Catholics who are eagerly jumping aboard the Francis bandwagon. But let me focus on just one of his (oft-abused) quotes to point out how far all this hype really is from that which Francis is proclaiming. “If a choice has to be made between a bruised Church which goes out to the streets and a Church suffering from self-absorption, I certainly prefer the first.” He continues that the leaders of the Church must get dirty in their work, and not confine themselves to the sanctimonious confines of the inner sacristy. What is he really saying here? Is he asking Catholics to lock their Faith inside the church, and to forget it once we step outside? NO! This is what the anti-catholic media WANT us to believe. On the contrary, the Pope is calling for a bruised and dirty Church; a bruising which it can only receive by going out to the public square and proclaiming the Truth of Christ! How else can the Church get bruised and dirty? He is clearly calling on us to stop trying to appease the secular world and gladly welcome the dirt and bruising which it will throw at us, all in the name of preaching the Truth! THIS is what Francis is calling for - Catholics must take their faith out of the confines of the sacristy and into the world that will hate us because of that Faith! It is not a call to surrender, but a call to courage in exporting our Faith to the public sphere.
