A word from THE GOOFALINGUISTIC-LEXAMAGUIDGE: RUGGDAPULLIUM /ruhg-dah-puhl-ee-uhm/ ...The ancient name for the ancient city of Pulldaruggium, that got misspellated during translation, reversed and forgotten before it was moved about six miles west of its original location, which no one could actually locate. More about that later. This little city was known for its rugs, where bugs would shrug, and with a tug, make a rug that would fit any room like a glove. This made other cities rather jealous, so of course, the fights came to town, knocking everything down, leaving a mess on the floors, so the rugs shown no more, and piles of debris were everywhere. It was a mess, and weve translated over sixty different words to date describing it. (And over eighty more that we couldnt translate, cause we found most of those words too late to translate to make even the fifteenth edition... but I digress...) When the city was finally rebuilt after all the demolition and special effects shots were finished, they decided that the original site was just too destroyed, and, well, no one really wanted to try to clean up the mess, so... the new version of the old city rose six miles west of its original location, which everyone could easily still find at the time. The giant pile of rubble that was just sitting there was hard to miss. But once rebuilt, the new city was missing something... rugs. It was gonna take a long time to make new ones so it was decided to just try to reclaim the old ones. This presented a few difficulties. As the people responsible for reclaiming all the rugs started to climb the great pile of debris to start digging out the rugs, A stagehand from the local theater figured out a better way: He got a hold of some of the bugs, fed them some shrubs, and had them connect all the rugs, and gave it a tug... and pulled the rug out from under the pile of debris, causing all the workers to fall to their deaths. The stagehand was treated as a thug, the bugs were no longer beloved, and the sun set on the city, which eventually unraveled into the swamp, where it was never seen again... until they found the original site, and then lost it in a freak hailstorm, but did find an ancient sign telling us where to look for the second city. Once that was dug up, we found out about all those rugs, but they had all gone to dust, mixed with the water in the swamp, and had become concrete. Tis a very hard tale to tell, but we are convinced that the phrase: To pull the rug out from under one comes from the story of this old city that lived by it rugs... and died by them too.
