A word from the Pastor: Hows the Race Going? Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. Notice: 1. We have a race set before us 2. We have a requirement in this race - patience 3. We have a reason for remaining in the race - (verse 2) 4. We have a request to consider - (3) 5. We have a reminder - (4) We have been placed in a race. We have a requirement to run it with patience due to the many obstacles we will face. The reason for remaining in the race is because we have one that has completed the race as an example. He has not only scripted but finished the course he has set before us. He asks us to consider just how difficult the course may be. We then have the reminder that we have yet to resist with our lifes blood against sin. When your race begins to increase in intensity, the challenges mount, and the obstacles multiply, remind yourself of our Lords example. He endured the cross, despised the shame and endured the contradiction of sinners and then sat down on the right hand of the throne of God. It simply is just too soon to quit. No matter the difficulties, the duress, the deterrents or the detractors just keep on running! There is a finish line and we can and will make it. Look around, Lay aside, Lighten up, Look to Jesus, Look ahead. (Ref. Heb12 1-4 ) Extra reading - (1 Cor. 9:24-27) Bro. Tony
