A year and a day ago today, I went to New York City with Matt - TopicsExpress

A year and a day ago today, I went to New York City with Matt Campbell. We camped out on the sidewalk at Rockefeller Center in order to get stand-by tickets for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, because Brian Wilson was going to be performing on Jimmy Fallon, with Al Jardine, Jeff Beck, and David Marks. We spent the entire night on the sidewalk, and at nine in the morning, we got our stand-by tickets. The two of us traveled around New York that morning, exhausted, but wide awake and excited beyond belief that we were going to see Brian Wilson perform. In a weird chain of events, we were leaving Rockefeller Center after using the bathroom, and there, standing tall and walking inside the building was Brian Wilson. He just kept walking and we just kept gawking. My friend Mick Mascendaro then texted me because he knew that I was in New York and told me that Paul McCartney was going to be performing in Times Square in forty minutes. I called him up because I didnt understand what was happening and he told me that one of his friends told him that Paul McCartney posted that he was going to be performing fifteen minutes before on Twitter. I dont have a Twitter account, but I looked it up, and there it was: Paul McCartney was going to be performing in New York. We walked over to Times Square and began asking everyone if they had heard whether or not there was going to be a Paul McCartney concert. Police officers laughed at us. Tourists and merchants were clueless. Alas, we thought that someone must have hacked Pauls Twitter account. All of a sudden, a new team of police officers came in and started setting up barricades. Everyone started gathering behind the barricades in the center of Times Square. I just wanted to be in front, so Matt and I stood behind the barricades on the far right. All of a sudden, an eighteen wheeler pulls in front of us, passing us, then backing up. The tarp was brought down and PAUL McCARTNEYS PIANO WAS FIVE FEET IN FRONT OF ME. I couldnt believe it. Twenty minutes later, with an enormous crowd gathering, Paul took the stage. During the first song, the two of us locked eyes and he pouted his lips, smiling, then exclaiming, Yeah!, as he saw that I knew the words to his new song. A camera crew interviewed me and they completely captured my enthusiasm in this flurry of excitement. I had no idea who was filming me, but in March, I found out. Afterwards, Matt and I went to McDonalds to try and capture the moment, delighted by the fact that Probyn Gregory surprised us by meeting us there! Matt and I walked back to Rockefeller Center, and we got in to Jimmy Fallon. A writer for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon- NBC Studios asked if there were any musicians in line, as we waited to take our seats. I told him that I played piano, and he took down my information. (The next day, they emailed me, asking me to write a song about Pickle Trees, and I absolutely did that in forty minutes. After weeks of emailing back and forth, nothing came of this, but the future is brighter with each shining star!) They told me that Id be standing on the Band Bench for Jimmy Fallon, an area to the side of the stage, so that I get to be onstage with the band. My hero took the stage with Jeff Beck and Al Jardine, and they first performed Our Prayer, with my jaw wide open. The next song that they performed made me completely numb, as in a way, I feel as if that day was made for me. They performed the song Danny Boy. That was by far one of the greatest days of my life. Months later, I was looking up YouTube videos to see if there were any clips from Paul performing in Times Square where I see my hair bouncing up and down, but to my surprise, I stumbled across the official music video from Paul McCartneys page. And by golly, Im in a Paul McCartney music video. Some days are just too amazing for events to be coincidences. https://youtube/watch?v=3q0mbtfelAY
