A young, struggling preacher was the pastor of a small country - TopicsExpress

A young, struggling preacher was the pastor of a small country church. He was boarding an elevator, on the way to visit one of his church members. One other man was on the elevator as well: a successful, wealthy and famous business owner. The young pastor recognized the older man immediately and was overcome with intimidation and awe. That giant of a man could have shared the ride with the preacher boy and not uttered a word. Instead, he reached out in kindness and asked the pastor who he was and what he was doing. In response, the young minister told the businessman about his church, to which the older gentleman replied, Oh yes, that little white church out on Highway 81? After exchanging a few more pleasantries, the two men parted company. The famous man most likely forgot all about that conversation. For the young preacher, however, it was an amazing encounter with an amazing man of God. The business owner was Truett Cathy. I was that little preacher boy. I look forward to reminding Mr. Cathy of our meeting when I see him again in eternity.
