Keep Our Films, Our Families, Our Work in California! Dear Russ, Thank you for being a Film Works Supporter! Today, and throughout the month of August, we will be sharing stories on the Film Works CA website of industry workers in California who have been affected by runaway production. As you may know, more than 40 other states and many countries are aggressively and successfully luring away this major California industry, to reap the economic benefits generated by film production. They do this by offering film incentives that exceed California’s in availability and scope. reel-jobs-are-real-jobs.jpg This is why sharing these stories and supporting Assembly Bill 1839 (Gatto/Bocanegra), the California Film and Television Job Retention and Promotion Act, is so important. This legislation will make California competitive again by expanding and enhancing the California Film and Television Tax Credit Program. AB 1839 will change the status quo and bring film and television projects back to California! In addition to sharing the videos and signing the petition, we need you to come show your support of AB 1839 at our Mobilization Day at the California State Capitol on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Please join us in Sacramento for our last chance to gather and show support for this bill before it goes to its final votes. This will be our final opportunity to show our legislators and Governor that we all stand together in solidarity supporting this bill and this industry.
