AAI congratulates Councilor Arlene Sharpe (AAI 96) and Gordon Freeman (AAI 01) for their work leading to FDAs just-announced approval of pembrolizumab (Keytruda, made by Merck), the first check-point inhibitor targeting a molecule called PD-1. For their work in making this drug possible, Sharpe and Freeman, will be among four scientists awarded the National Cancer Institutes highest honor, the William B.
