***** AAP Mohalla Sabhas ***** ***** Please Share if you Agree ***** The Communal Councils of Venezuela in these videos are very similar to the Mohalla Sabhas that AAP talks about. https://youtube/watch?v=0kJ3f5A3bdY https://youtube/watch?v=gz0ONL37kbQ https://youtube/watch?v=CnIpzJtGBCs Venezuela with a population of xxx and area xxx has about 33,000 communal councils, each with 50-300 families. Venezuela population 30M, Land 882,050 sqkm, Density 34 people/sqkm India population 1.2B, Land 2,973,193 sqkm, Density 403 people/sqkm (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_dependencies_by_area) While the idea seems tempting & attractive, there is no evidence whatsoever on whether this is practical in India. Is this like The path to hell is paved with good intentions? Venezuelans 99% of them speak Spanish and about 98% of them christians. Compared to India with how many languages? and how many religions? how many communal conflicts? Does it lead to decision paralysis? Does it lead to total population polarization and balkanization? There is no scientific study (at least theoretical) to see if Communal Councils can function in such high population density with vast diversity. With no such hypothesis available, is it wise to carry this experiment on a 1.2B population? Venezuelan economy is significantly dependent on Oil Exports, and the Oil Mines are nationalized. I presume this would be like our India with predominantly government institutions of 1980s. Will it work in post economic reforms India? Something to ponder... To solve unemployment, I understand the Communal Councils solution is to hire more people and make them work for lesser hours per day. I think its 6hrs/day (citation needed). This also provides the extra time one would need for participatory democracy. Can India afford to make this change? Youll see similarities between Hugo Chavezs moves and Arvind Kejriwal, such as fighting for corruption, referendums, attention seeking and resignation after being in power for a brief period. So what happened in Venezuela after changing to Mohalla Sabhas? See https://youtube/watch?v=_LDAp-RrJ_I and https://youtube/watch?v=M9Om4gJEmGs 1) Discontent among ordinary Venezuelans 2) Water, fuel & food crisis 3) Power crisis, black outs, with penalty if usage exceed rationed quota 4) Middle class migration of talented people to US/Europe Venezuelan inflation stood at 54% (Nov 2003). Im not saying present system is perfect. But with so many questions around a largest scale experiment called Mohalla Sabhas, with no hypothesis prior to experiment... makes me ask this: Do you want to turn the system upside-down? OR Perhaps all you need is tweak existing system for efficiency? You decide..... You vote !! ***** AAP Mohalla Sabhas *****
