AAP nominees ‘elect’ Arvind Kejriwal CM candidate NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party has given its candidates time till November 10 to complete area-wise manifestos. Once these start getting released, the central party manifesto is expected to be issued within a week though only after November 15. Senior members of AAPs political affairs committee met the 66 declared candidates on Wednesday who also officially elected Arvind Kejriwal as their chief ministerial candidate. It was common knowledge that Kejriwal would represent the party as its chief ministerial candidate but following the dictates of democracy, we also officially held an election during Wednesdays meeting and officially elected Kejriwal. Needless to say, he won unanimously, said a senior party official. So far, the manifesto from the Bijwasan constituency has already been released. The candidate from this area, Col Devinder Sehrawat, was the first candidate to be announced by the party and had been working on the manifesto since July. Most others are in their final stages of completion while newly announced candidates are trying hard to finish all manifesto meetings within the given time frame. Wednesdays meeting was held to discuss what kind of issues had come up in each constituency so far and which issues could be contributed for the main party manifesto. It will not be possible to wait for all constituencies to release their manifesto before the main manifesto is drawn. We have been meeting with candidates to get their feed back and have set a deadline for them by which all work on manifestos is to be completed. Common issues like water, power, roads, etc., will find mention in the main manifesto. From November 10 onwards, candidates will start releasing local manifestos and we will follow with the main agenda, said sources. Party spokesperson Manish Sisodia said that, other than regular issues of corruption which had already featured in the partys agenda, the new major components of the manifesto are environment and education. Environment is an important issue and we have been receiving several inputs on environment, not only from candidates but also from various constituencies during our interaction with people. These have been incorporated, he said. timesofindia.indiatimes/city/delhi/AAP-nominees-elect-Kejriwal-CM-candidate/articleshow/25336897.cms
