AAP way of remembering the freedom fighters on 68th Independence Day Aam Adami Party volunteers went beyond the political frontiers to remember the martyrs and all other freedom fighters in their Mohalla programmes to celebrate Independence Day in the capital of India. Patriotic songs, shows by children, unfurling of the national flag, and introspective deliberations about the next steps needed to fulfill the dreams of our national heroes by the AAP activists followed by distribution of sweets took place in all districts and assembly segments. I witnessed it at Wazirabad Muhalla and Burari village. In my address, I found it necessary to underline three promises to ourselves to move closer to real Swaraj – i. no violence against women at home or in public places, ii. no disrespect or humiliation towards fellow human beings due to caste or faith, and iii. community effort to create a cleaner and greener neighborhood. None of these three need any external or official resources or patronage. They will make us a more humane nation. A sane society. A happier segment of humanity.
