AAU graduate and ex UK convict nabbed for visa fraud Special Fraud Unit, SFU, has arrested a graduate of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and a 40-year-old United Kingdom ex-convict ov er alleged visa scam. Recovered from the suspects were fake travel documents, which included letter of appointment, statements of accounts, fake visa, fake arrival and departure stamps of Benin Republic, Cote d’Voire, Togo, Ghana and United Kingdom. Their arrest, according to spokesperson for the Unit, Ngozi Isintume-Agu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, followed a petition by the British Deputy High Commissioner that the 26-year-old graduate, Jude Esebanmhen, had applied for visa with a fake United Kingdom Entry Clearance visa on his passport. The petition, according to Isintume “reported that Jude Esebanmhen, with Nigerian Passport No. A04701778, applied for a six months visit visa on June 6, but the visa application was rejected “He later applied for a Spanish visa with a fake UK Entry Clearance Visa on his passport in an attempt to use deception to obtain the visa. “The visa was checked by a trained forgery officer and discovered to be forged.” During investigation, Esebanmhen, who hails from Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, claimed an agent that promised to assist him procure a Spanish visa, introduced him to one Mr. Olawole, who unknown to him, forged the document and stamp on his passport. He said: “I paid N300,000 to obtain the UK visa. But it failed. He promised to compensate me with a Spanish visa, which unknown to me were forged.” The second suspect, Charles Sanusi, 40, admitted to procuring visa and other documents like hotel reservation, insurance certificate, ticket, invitation letters, employment documents and statement of account for prospective travelers to London, Spain and France.
