“ABANDONED PROJECT IMPLIES PLANLESSNESS” Memory Verse: “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?” Luke 14:28. Looking through the entire universe, can you point at any of the projects that God started at creation and was left uncompleted? You cannot possibly see that! Why? God planned for every project He embarked upon and was sure where He was going even before He started. Having successfully completed all His projects on the sixth day, He looked back and was satisfied ‘Then God looked over all he had made and he saw that it was very good!’ Genesis 1:31 – this is completion! Behind every abandoned project are planlessness, loss of focus and some other unenvisaged events. For every project abandoned, a significant measure of resources, time and even emotion must have been invested – meaning that a reasonable part of you has been tied down somewhere! Even though you have abandoned it, yet, intermittently it draws your attention. This is exactly the point Jesus was trying to emphasize while addressing the crowd that were travelling with Him. It is a pity that so many laudable projects have been abandoned in our society by the government for the reason of lack of continuity in administration. The same applies to individuals and corporate organizations. If you are not ready to finish a race, why did you start? Why did you lay the foundation when you know you are not ready to finish that house? Since you know you are not ready to cope with the demands of marriage, why did you accept a marriage proposal? Nothing is by force! Probably you do not know, for every project abandoned, you make a mockery of yourself and give room for others to make a mockery of your God. Does this describe you? Which project have you abandoned? Go back, re-evaluate the project and identify what must be done to complete it. It is never too late! Although, problems unanticipated could stop you temporarily, but only you can stop yourself permanently, go back to that academic programme! Go back to that apprenticeship! You are not a failure. Remember, only those who endure and finish win the prize. Remain blessed!
