ABBOTT GOVERNMENT POLICIES ARE CRUEL, AND SHORTSIGHTED. If people with cancer and serious illness dont have carers, they end up in hospital more often, or in full time institutional care. Both alternatives cost the taxpayer considerably more than paying a carer. The carer payment is barely enough to keep body and soul together, and carers often have to pay large amounts each week for medicines and transport for those they care for. They also must pay for regular physiotherapy for themselves, to offset the physical impacts of caring for an infirmed person for 24 hours a day. CENTRELINK IS FAST BECOMING A JOKE:
