ABIA NORTH, SENATOR CHUKWUMERIJE AND US. by Ody Ajike Abia North Senatorial Zone is one zone out of three in Abia State. It’s been the command headquarters of Senator Chukwumerije. Senator Chukwumerije is a man who tends to be deafened by the blare of his own band and blinded by the lights of his own spots, shinning always and always shinning on the ring of his own choice. The rock truth is that, this man has lived in the senate to benefit not his own people but himself. He lives like east without the west. To him we are the west and he is east. Selfish in all ramifications without a splendid appreciation of the needs and desires of the people of Abia North. I stand firmly to declare that the time for applauding his gestural imprudence in a democracy like ours is past. We need a change in Abia North because we need to hear our own voices, our voices needs to be the ring master but he raises his hand to stop our band. Never again shall that be possible. For over eight years he has heard and played his music and Abia north has nothing to show for this intolerable senatorial behaviour. He has never planted any seed that could rise to a democratic dividend. Chukwumerije has been swept up in the whirlwind of his own little playground built on bad conscience. We have nothing as a people to show for his senatorial position. The world in which he lives is not the whole world but a small part of it because he does not know the value of backing his words with his works. No reputation of finishing well. In my community, he came and started a water project in 2011 and till now it has not been completed and there are multiples of other projects in the zone started in 2011 which he has abandoned after votes fairly and criminally were pushed for his victory in that year’s election. Abia North Senatorial Zone will enjoy a change come 2015. We need a man of purpose. A man trusted by the people whose character will match his responsibilities. A man who will develop the zone. A man who will not be selfish and too elitist for the people. A man who won’t wear our tag and further his own agenda of selfishness. A man who will not be a party in making federal institutions in Abia not to work. A man who will not be interested in tagging along with a Governor to get automatic ticket and abandon the people thereafter. Senator Chukwumerije, we have finished with you and Abia North is not your personal property because you have nothing to show for being our senator except solar street lights installed through the Electricity Commission of Nigeria.
