ABILIS Grants to Empower People with Disabilities 25.08.2013 Deadline: ongoing Open to: organizations that include persons with disabilities in their leadership Grant: 500 – 10,000 Euros ABILIS Foundation is a development fund, founded by people with disabilities in Finland in 1998. Its mandate is to support the activities leading to the empowerment of disabled persons in the Global South (developing countries). The Foundation supports activities that contribute toward equal opportunities for disabled people in society through human rights, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency. Special priority is given to projects on advocating for human rights of disabled people and to activities developed and implemented by disabled women. The Foundation supports organizations that include persons with disabilities in their leadership. They support organisations of people with mobility, visual, hearing or any other type of disability and also organisations that are run by parents of children with disabilities. Eligibility You can apply for a grant if: - You live in a country qualified for Official Development Assistance by UN and OECD (See the list of countries HERE) - Your organisation has a certificate of registration (if your group is not registered, please contact the office: [email protected], as sometimes exception to this rule is possible) Grant ABILIS Foundation gives small grants ranging from 500 to 10,000 Euros to projects initiated by disabled persons. A minimum of 10 % of the project budget should be a contribution of time, money or other resources from the applicant group. Application If you live in one of the following countries: India, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kambodzha, Mosambik, Tadzhikistan and Kyrgyzstan, please contact ABILIS Foundation’s partner organisations for an application form (contacts HERE). The applications are judged according to the involvement of persons with disabilities, including their role in developing the project and in committing their own resources to the project (including time). The project must be realistic in its scope and expected results. The application must show how the project will continue to benefit the community once the project’s funding term has been completed.
