ABR Video Update-April 13, 2014-Sugar and Sweet Pea Together A big day for two little bears! Curator Janet reports: “I laughed aloud at Sugar last night. Earlier, she kept a low profile while Sweet Pea paced and made herself look big [a bear defense strategy]. Well, Sugar found her courage. She was standing up, stomping one back paw and slapping the divider (such a big tough bear). She also had her last bottle (she doesn’t know that yet). I watched her on the monitor, fishing grapes out of the formula bowl and chewing on them, so I think she’s ready. Early this morning, I opened the divider in the pen. I expected some posturing and huffing, but that didnt happen. Sweet Pea immediately crossed the divide and initiated play with Sugar. Its two hours later, and I am watching them on the monitor; they are still playing.We believe Sweet Pea could be 1-2 weeks older than Sugar. Her teeth are more developed and she is bigger. Sugar would occasionally stop playing, run to “Charlie”, and hug him, but Sweet Pea would follow and tackle both Sugar and Charlie.
