ABSU organizes people’s gathering on separate state at Salakati From our Correspondent KOKRAJHAR, October 17: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Kokrajhar district committee, organized a people’s gathering at Salakati ME School playground in the district on Thursday on the issue of separate state of Bodoland. The meeting which was chaired by the president of Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU– Lawrence Islary was addressed by the president of ABSU– Promod Boro, president of the NDFB (P)– Dhiren Boro and others was also attended by General Secretary of ABSU– Romeo P Narzary. In an interview with the reporters in the side line of the meeting, the president of ABSU– Promod Boro said that the ABSU halted the series of bandh and blockade programmes in demand of Bodoland state after the government of India formally invited the students’ body to resolve the Bodoland issue through tripartite talks in New Delhi. He said that ABSU has been organizing people’s gathering in every nook and corner to make them aware on the demand of separate state of Bodoland. He also said the government of India has fixed the next round of tripartite talk with ABSU and its combined organizations on November 11 in New Delhi. He further warned that the ABSU will bring vigorous people’s movement if the tripartite talk does not bear fruit. In reply to a question, Boro said that ABSU has not been campaigning for some political party as alleged by certain political leaders. He said the political leaders will definitely put blame on them alleging of political campaign. The ABSU has nothing to say and pass comment on that, he said adding that despite allegation blame game of certain political parties, ABSU will go on with its mission for the separate state of Bodoland which is the ultimate goal of the Bodos. The President of the UMMC– Usuf Ali said that the Minority Council has always supported for the creation of separate state of Bodoland under the banner of ABSU and its combined force. He said the genuine minority community want equal justice and development in separate state of Bodoland and they will continue to support the cause of Bodoland state. On October 16 also, ABSU organized people’s gathering at Joleswary in Kachugaon, in the interior place of the district where host of leaders from different organizations were present. The President of ABSU– Promod Boro graced the occasion as the chief guest.
