ABUJA- FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar Sunday took a swipe at his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying that the party was owing him a great debt of gratitude, just as he urged the leadership of PDP concentrate on improving lives of the people, on redressing the parlous state of the nation’s economy as well as stem the state of insecurity, rather than distort history. Atiku Abubakar who boasted that he owes nothing to the ruling party, said that those presently enjoying the party and anyone currently in position of authority in the PDP today were there when the PDP was formed. Apparently reacting to a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh recently that Atiku owes a debt of gratitude for providing him a political platform that saw to his emergence as the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar in a statement yesterday said that, ” contrary to the claims by the leadership of PDP, it was indeed his erstwhile political party that owes a debt of thanks to him.” According to Atiku Abubakar who dumped the PDP last month for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Metuh was distorting history by saying that he was ungrateful to the PDP
