ABUJA POLICE ARREST DINO MELAYE Dino Melaye, a former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives and executive secretary, Anti-Corruption Network, ACN, Dino Melaye, was on Monday arrested by a group of policemen in Abuja, the capital. The reasons for the arrest of the former lawmaker remain unknown, but may likely be connected with the recent protest he led against the purchase of two armoured cars for Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah at the cost of N255 million by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA. Altiene Daniel, Public Relations Officer of Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command confirmed Melaye’s arrest. He said the arrest was necessitated by complaints against him, but would not elaborate on the specific complaints or the complainant. She also refused to say when the former lawmaker will be released.
