ABVP Pune delegation went to Malin village to check the situation. Experience written down by Nikhil Karampuri after the visit. MALIN- A TRAGIC STORY Initially it was any normal expected news but after 24 hours it changed everything. The situation was far graver than anybody could imagine. The whole village which is situated in nature’s bounty of a huge reservoir named Tembe was stuck under a huge mountain of mud, more than 60 houses and 400 villagers swallowed in by nature. This was one part of story and on the other hand activists were disturbed, worried and they could feel the need of help out there. Four delegates of ABVP activists decided to go and check the situation in the village and concluded on Rehabilitation work. As we started our trail to the tragic village, we came across an army of JCB’s, trucks going back after a battle fought in worst conditions with high morale even when they knew they were in no position to win. Observing the life of the people living there it was a shocking to see that there were no services for “जनजाती” (Tribal) people for their help. As we reached the village we saw nothing but only 4-5 houses and a school building. Everything else was either washed away or was under the heap of mud. The silence itself spoke about sufferings of the villagers. As we started moving around and looked in nook and corners, we came across a broken house which projected the disaster faced by the people. The survivors were shifted to nearby hospitals leaving no scope to interact with them. The neighborhood with no doubt had left for safer places. On site, there were a group of policemen and the rescue team working hard even in the continuous heavy rains, muddy land and the odor of dead bodies. When we interacted with the people working on site one of the personnel from medical aid department said that “Ardhya chaddi valyaani faar mahan kaam kela.” There were few common people helping the rescue team and the policeman. When asked, one of them said that though they had no connection with the village but yet they felt it was their duty to do the rescue work. When no one was ready to carry out the last rites and rituals on the dead bodies, the SwayamSevak’s stepped in. After witnessing the work done by the RSS, my respect for them increased and as expected, no media reported their (RSS) contribution in the rescue. They really proved the quote “राष्ट्रीय स्वाह, इदं न मम्” Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh : RSS Abvp Maharashtra ABVP Karnataka #ABVP #Malin #Rehabilitation #RSS
