ACA---The Affordable Care Act, a/k/a OBamaCare Continues to be under attack by Southern GOP Governors and ALEC... Despite the ACA being the Law of the Land almost ALL GOP Southern States continue to deny Medicaid coverage to their citizens, for which the consequences are dire, including death... Last year, Governor Bill Haslam didnt accept more than one billion dollars in federal funds to expand Medicaid. The move would have insured about 140,000 Tennesseans, but Governor Haslam claims hes working on a plan that will best fit the state. According to organizers, candles at the vigil represented those who will die this year because they are uninsured. Thats one of the main reasons why the group held the vigil. People in Knoxville werent the only ones requesting Medicaid expansion. Other candelight vigils took place across the nation in states where governors have refused to expand Medicaid. Because they do not have health insurance and cant go for cancer treatment or heart conditions or surgeries that would keep them living, thats why were here, said Wilson. Governor Haslam has received some pushback from state Republicans about the possibility of expanding Medicaid. This year, lawmakers passed the Stop Obamacare Act, which requires the governor to get the legislatures approval before moving forward on an expansion plan. wate/story/26822673/knoxville-candelight-vigil-pushes-for-medicaid-expansion
