ACADIP UNLEASHED! DAWAH CONTINUA, REVERSION ASCERTA His name is Adepoju Yusuf Olatunde, simply called Yusuf Acadip. He hails from Ilobu in Osun state, south west Nigeria. A graduate of the Federal University of Teachnology, Akure (FUTA). He wears a characteristic charming grace, dark in complexion,a moderate height,a face beaming with splendor and a sunnatically thicked beard conglumerating into one amiably handsome young man full of energy and valour. His #Deedatic mode of dress does more than gossip of what could be described as the late Islamic apologists reincarnate, Yusuf equally wields similar zest, wisdom, intelligence, oration, zeal, knowledge and most importantly understanding of the dynamism and fluidity of what could be coined Apologetic Dawah or Comparative Dawah as being favoured in scholastic term. Comparative dawah methodology itself has evolved over these years despite the initial teething suspicion of its modus operandi as then expressed by some scholars of Islam. Its very progressive, effective and amenability to corrective incursions by the scholars of islam has finely stream-lined the multi-criticality of its early scholarstic backlash into a pin-head restrictive cautionary verdict of no insult,no abuse of their gods. Some literature trace the origin of the contemporary apologetic dawah to a historically momentous encounter between an indian muslim cleric and a western christian diplomat who was equally an acclaimed authority on the christian bible(s). The picture of Islam as being portrayed in the western world as that of a faith spread on the edge of swords stemmed from the papacy as the highest and the most sacred halo of the roman catholic vatican. Faced with the glorious charm and the beautiful appeal islam conjures in its utter rationality, simplicity, lucidity, quntifiability and yet the uncompromising rigidity of its basic doctrines that have endured centuries post departure of its great prophet Muhammad (SAW), successive popes could not fathom the enigma behind Islams inimitable endurance. Of course, it has not been in the papacys good taste that a religion birthed about half a millenium after the christian faith could have grown so robust as to pose immediate and long term threat of rivalry to christianity in terms of gaining and losing of membership. More daunting is the distasteful tendencies that perennially sees to a nose-diving dwindling of christianity to the advantageous growing of what is perniciously ridiculed as Mohamedan faith(despite the unminced instant rebuttals of such terminology by adherents of islam at all times ). That informed the rather repugnant resolves of the papacy that sophisticated intellectual wars against Islam was inegotiable. Orientalists were charged to shed their crusader ink on the battle field of apologetic literature. This would occur while the muslims had not opened up any parallel channel of religious dialogue beyond the islamic world and therefore the bulk of anti-islam literature produced saturated the western world, with non-muslims learning Islam in the version described and brandished on the podia of antagonising narratives. Perhaps the earliest seepage of those gospels of malignity through globalising tributaries of colonial powers to the Muslim domains manifested in india in the Bishop-Cleric encounter earlier described. Muslims faintly had ideas about the chrisitians scripture and their rejection of the book had hitherto been premised on the belief that the Holy Quran is theirs and not the bible. The indian scholar encounter could be described as the eye-opener to the grave defects and absurdities which litter the crannies of what had been mistaken for Gods words by Christian for ages. Dialogic endeavors shifted from its defensive nature to include further enquiries on the real identity of the bible and embers of curiosity got more blown in active studies and further researches on the scripture that led to more questions being generated than answered, Hence, apologetic dawah was officially born! Apart from the initial challenges of acceptability by some muslims prior to its later reform and finetuning in the theatre of Islamic traditional enquiries and the partial reservations of its methods among some scholars till date, it has been a success story as reflected in the ability to debunk agelong misconception about islam and the opening up of ever-widening islands of Islam in the previously hundred percent kufrutic nations. Where comparative dawah exists, reversions to Islam becomes inevitable, nay! Un-obstructable! A treatise on comparative dawah bereft the name Ahmed Deedat is an incomplete work! Sheikh Ahmed Deedat (Rohimahullah) is un-arguably describable as the father of modern Comparative Dawah. His pioneering effort at organised public debates with christian Pastors and Bishops across the globe has dignified him as a vanguard of intellectual debate in the islamic world and beyond. No successful Muslim apologist today who does not owe it to Sheikh Deedat his motivation and courage in the field. Apologetic libraries of both muslims and christians have Deedats books, pamphlets, magazines as landlords in the shelves. The several thousands of reverts through Sheikh deedats dawah cleared the way for those who would also embrace islam from our indefatigable Dr Zakir Naik of india, the renowned world class preacher and the super-debater of the Islamic faith, who we today pride as one of the wonders of Allah with regards to the potentials of human memory! Back home to Nigeria, the northern part of the country, though majorly muslim populated cannot be left unspoken about with some successful comparative preachers. Among those of the North, Professor Dauda Ojobi remains a living icon and a pride of Islam. A former christian who reverted several years back and went ahead to learn Islam to validate or debunk some of his pre-reversion beliefs and then turned into an apologist having several thousands of reverts to his credit. Prof. Ojobi would say i have lost the count of those Allah coverted to islam through me, But i know over 40 churches have been changed into mosques today through my little effort! In the southern Nigeria, most of the comparative preachers of fame are found in the west, obviosuly because of the predominance of Islam among the Yorubas than their Ibos and Ijaw-Itshekiri and other ethnic inhabitants of the same national southern hemisphere. Alhaji Dawuda Amao Alaga is one name that easily strikes the mind in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo, osun and Ogun state. The ibadan based preacher was a former university worker who wields a powerful weapon of oration. His proficiency in both Yoruba and the English language commands an overwhelming respect among professional linguists. Alhaji Alaga throws spanners to the wheels of dictions and his choice of words can be so fascinating and daunting all together. He also stands emblematic of unparalled sense of humour and yet easily passes his points across to the full convinction of anyone who has not willingly divorced his own sense of reasoning. Then comes our late apologetic hero and the epistemic luminary in the person of Brother Abdul Lateef Adobowale, the Adupe fOluwa comparative preacher and a debater of self-immortalising memory, the muslim icon of our collective envy, the great tongue and the loud voice that sent cold down the spine of christian deceit and misguidance. The coming of Brother Abdul Lateef couldnt have been better timed! When Dawah effort had already begun to suffer some seemingly unsalvageable decline in lagos and other yoruba states, when Pastors and evangelists glamorously tempting biddings had palpably cultured viruses of materialism, which helplessly infected some muslim clerics thereby forgetfully jetissoning their divine duties as muslim leaders, giving pursuance to materialistic tendencies among the followers at ceremonials. When emphasis shifted from who did not come to the mosque to who did not pay his mosque due, when naming ceremonies, funerals, Walimats and marriages had become the impatiently awaited opportunities to extort muslims as being done in churches and cathedrals, when some #Alfas would fight dirty over Owo Apo(pocket money) at ceremonies and defend such with frivolous explanations that Pastors were on salaries when they were not, when Sunnatic islam had not been this established with the MSSN still evolving from its old self, when young and ignorant muslims were smuggled out of islam through the luring adverts of miracles on the radios, when dubious offers of instant healings through miracles were constantly served to the unsuspecting muslim viewers by the eloquent pastors whose images consistently darkened the screens of our TV sets at home, when Islam appears endangered among the lagos and some other neighbouring Yoruba states, then Brother Abdul Lateef Adebowale emerged on a the comparative religion podium! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!!! What a blessing to Lagos! What a blessing to us! He brought luminous torchlight of truth. Its radiance cut through the deepest core of the darkness they had woven into fabrics of deceit. His Preachings and debates tore misconceptions into shreds and those ignorant muslims, who were already falling victims of rhetorical faith were doped back into spiritual sensibilities. Adebowale Abdul Lateef did not even-up on rescue mission only of the captured souls, He was gradually but consistently depleting the confluence of confusion. His lectures held in various areas in lagos and its environs and such venues were usually the graveyards of falsehood. Adebowales mastery of the bible and Quranic verses was monumental, his wisdom and debating skill pristine. You might not like him, you might not agree with him, you cant avoid listening and marvelling at him. He spoke perfect english with equal fluency with Yoruba and He wittingly and effortlessly shuttled between both. He builds his debate in a two-way dimentional pyramidal style. At times, He begins from the base and work his debater up to the narrow top, from where He could no longer escape from reality than to embrace Islam or abruptly close the dabate and leave the stage. Some other times, Brother Adebowale would start his debater off from the top of the pyramid and discussion begins to expand in a downward trend, breeding many confusions and doubts in the minds of the lost sheep concerning the falsehood He/ She had come on stage to validate. When they could no longer withstand the Heat, they would simply bow to superior claims and embrace Islam or seek more time to do further studies of their scriptures. Brother Adebowales Jihad was truly short-lived as Allah destined to call him back to himself within few years of his Dawah. We pray Allah grant him Al-jannat firdaus and forgive all his shortcomings. Ameen. Shortly after his death, His Izharul Haqq organisation broke into subgroups allegedlly due to leadership issue and today,no group can be said to be a continuation of his lofty agenda and Dawah. Today, Alhamdulillah, what we lost in Brother Abdul Lateef Adebowale has been compensated in the emergence of another good brother Adepoju Yusuf Olatunde of the Academy for Islamic Propagation (Acadip). It is in Brother Yusuf Acadip that we today see our lost glory in comparative Dawah in lagos and the entire South-west being returned in a greater dimension! Suffice to say that some other brothers are into this kind of Dawah, some of whom have not advanced to a stage where they wield global dimension like our own Ustaz Yusuf Adepoju. His flexibility and humility is demonstrated in his ability to subject his teachings and preachings to the critical Prism of Quran and Sunnah. Adepoju does not claim to be a Muslim scholar and He remains a student of knowledge as expected of any Muslim with authentic Aqeedah. Adepoju Yusuf once asked the people to remember his father in their prayers when his old block clocked a particular year (70?). A brother accused him of bidah but Yusuf Acadip again took the issue to his facebook page, asking for contributions of Muslims to correct him If He was wrong to ask people for prayer for his father. The accuser might have thought He was celebrating the birth day of his father or something. He emphasised on people correcting him If he was wrong. In similar posts, He has demonstrated this humility a lot. While some Apologists of his bracket arrogate names such as Mufti Muslim scholar etc to themselves, His followers only refer to him as a Muslim scholar of the christian bible. Our great Dr.Zakir Naik has also corrected this mistake from his admirers that He is not a Muslim scholar but a Preacher. Ever since the demise of Adebowale, No Comparative Dawah efforts has been so successful like that of Brother Adepoju in the south-west. The website of the Acadip is always updated with the names of revert brothers and sisters and the use of the social media such as the facebook, Yahoo mail, BBM, whatsapp etc have really spiced up the Acadip Dawah efforts. To his teeming followers on the net and elsewhere, the announcement of a coming lecture is synonymous to an impending reversion of many to Islam. Acadip today has gone beyond the founder alone, it is collectively owned by all muslim brothers and sisters who are concerned about the implication of a person dieing not as a muslim. He is closely followed by thousands of us. Through the peridic updates of the acadip activities through Some prominent members of the group, such as brother Eneye Ahmad Jamiu (a revert brother), brother Lukman Bashir Lucas(Revert) among others, truly captivates a lot especially the announcement of new reversions in real time at each of Acadip lectures. Brother Yusuf has really contributed a lot, having former pastors, evangelists, etc on the lists of his co-lecturers at times and having been used by Allah to convince many. His resilience and bravery are another attitudes Allah has ensured He does not lack. Having survived series of threats on his life from disgruntled Pastors that cannot helplessly watch their churches depleted by the lectures of brother Adepoju. Prominently notorious among such people is one Ilorin Based Pastor El-Maruf, who has sent series of threat letters, SMS messages and through personal phone calls and even threatened to Kill the Brother, should He come to Ilorin for lecture. His last two-day lectures in Ilorin was a long awaited one with Muslims fully prepared for any plot in the offing by the Pastor El-Maruf, Allahs willing, the lecture held and many christians also reverted including one sister all the way from port-harcourt who came and reverted after listening to one of Acadip CD lectures. El-Maruf vanished into thin air, well while the Ilorin Dawah period Lasted. We pray Allah preserve the life of Brother Yusuf Acadip and give him more succour and support to uncover their cover-ups Dawah Continua, Reversion Ascerta!
