ACHIEVEMENTS - GIANT STRIKES - KSM 29th December, 2014 Very fundamental and remarkable changes have taken place under the leadership of Governor Kashim Shettima. In specific terms, some of the programmes embarked upon by his administration deserve mention. These programmes in their conceptualization and practicalisation, encapsulate the essence of the Kashim Shettima administration. These programmes include: - Road-construction projects, most especially those linking the rural areas to urban areas as well as to market centers. - The use of direct-labour in these projects has proved to be very cost-effective. - The renovation of some government quarters and offices and some public schools is a noteworthy development. - The provision of street-lights across the state, including the rehabilitation of the old ones brightened the town. - The support given to the mass transit scheme through the provision of more transport vehicles. - The provision of borehole rigs and water pumps in the rural areas to boost water-supply and support agricultural development is worthy of note. - Over 10,000 first and second batches of BOSPAP graduates provided with Buses, Tricycles, and Working Tools. - Establishment of the Borno State Agricultural and Multi-purpose credit Agency. - Establishment of the Graduate Entrepreneurship scheme to take care of unemployed graduates and the senior citizens training programme to engage senior citizens in gainful activities. - Initiated and executed employment generation policies. - Provision of potable water supply for human and animal consumption and ensuring better environmental relief services. - Provision of adequate Healthcare tools and equipment, construction of comprehensive health centers and maternal and child health centers. - Rehabilitation Borno State Government of Eye Hospital Maiduguri, Agro-Chemicals, fertilizers, cassava, gum Arabic seedlings and vaccines are items supplied free to encourage the rural farmers. - Purchased of 1000 tractors of mechanized farming, 10,000 bulls, 5000 rides and inter-row cultivators were purchased under the animal-traction scheme-About 5000 farmers have directly benefited from the scheme.
