ACQUISITION OF NATIONALITY: There are two modes of acquisition of nationality.dese r (i) by birth (ii) by naturalization. By birth; dese can be sub divided into place of birth n Parentage. Laws of states dat confer citizenship on persons on place of birth r refered to as JUS SOLI (right of de soil). By parentage is known as JUS SANGUINIS (right of blood) (ii) Naturalization is also subdivided into two dat is (a) by operation of de law. dis type is automatic if certain criterion are met. this is known as ex necesitatijuris. an adopted child may automatically bcom a citizen of de nationality of de parents. one may bcom citizen of a country thr marriage to a citizen of dat nation. Legitimation is a situation where a man recognizes a child as his child. under dat situation de child becoms a citizen of dat country of de fada. (b) Voluntary; naturalization can arise out of marriage or residence at a place for over a defined period of time or any other declaration by de state concerned.In Ghana chapter 3 of de 1992 Const.deals with citizenship in Ghana . Under Art 6(1) every person who waz a citizen of Gh. when de const. came into force remains a citizen.
