ACT Policing proud sponsors of Menslink ACT Our Chief Police Officer Rudi Lammers, along with members from ACT Policing, showed their support for young men at risk when they attended Menslink’s Business Breakfast this morning at the National Press Club. Opened by Chief Minister Katy Gallagher, the breakfast was a chance for community partners to come together, show their support and hear from key speakers including Dr Brendan Nelson, the Director of the Australian War Memorial. Dr Nelson drew on his vast and varied career as an Australian Ambassador, Federal Education Minister and President of the AMA to provided his perspective on the challenges facing young men today. Over the past 12 years, Menslink has supported more than 1000 young men through their adolescence to become contributing, productive members of society. Young men are overwhelmingly represented in adverse violence, crime, school and university retention rates, while suicide remains the leading cause of death among young men aged 15-45 years. Menslink provides positive role models and support for young men as they go through the turbulence of their teenage years. With one in five teenagers no longer living with their father, the need for Menslink’s services are greater than ever.
