ACTS THAT ARE PERMISSIBLE DURING FASTING OR THE ACTS THAT DOES NOT NULLIFY THE FASTING 1. HAVING BATH:- bathing during fasting does not invalidate our fast, whether it may be for cleaning ourselves or for making our body cool etc (sahih bukhari in d bk of fasting volume 3, hadith no. 1926) (abu dawood in d bk of fasting volume 2, hadith no. 2359) 2. GARGLING:- this too does not invalidate our fast, but there are some people who argue that it breaks our fast as they misquote one hadith of our BELOVED PROPHET (saw), which is the hadith of abu dawood, volume 2, hadith no. 2360.......... in which our BELOVED PROPHET (saw) said,do not sniff water excesssively........... PROPHET (saw) did not say do not sniff water but HE (saw) prohibitted from the excessive sniffing 3. VOMITING:- this too does not nullify the fast if it unintentionally........... but if it is done INTENSIONALLY then it nullifies the fast and the person has to make up for it later on. 4. KOHL:- popularly called as SURMA........ putting kohl in the eyes does not nullify the fast. (abu dawood, volume 2, hadith no. 2672) 5. SALIVA:- swallowing saliva does not nullify the fast as it is the natural process that goes on in every human being. 6. INJECTIONS:- injections too does not break our fast if it is only a medicine BUT if it is given as a nourishment, then it nullifies our fast. 7. DROPS:- putting drops into our ears and in our eyes does not nullify the fast........ though these drops do reach in our stomach but it is not via through the normal passage............ this is the opinion of majority of scholars including SHEIKH BIN BAAZ (rahimuALLAH) 8. USING SIWAK AND TOOTHPASTE:- these too does not nullify the fast. 9. AS for as using nasal drops are concerned, we can make use of it, if, it does not reach into the stomach............. if it reaches into teh stomach, then it nullifies our fast. 10. TASTING OR CHEWING FOOD:- if a woman prepares food for baby, she is allowed to taste or chew it for the baby......... but the condition is that she should swallow it..... if she swallows it , her fast is nullified. 11. BLOOD TEST:- doing test etc does not break the fast.
