ADOPT ME - Penny In April, The Fuzzy Pet Foundation - (TFPF) received a plea for help from the Apple Valley Animal Shelter - (AVAS) regarding an Akita named Penny. Pennys owner, Deborah, is dying of cancer and she had to be transported to the hospital. Deborah had made prior arrangements with her bestfriend to care for and adopt Penny. But despite this promise, Deborahs bestfriend had a sudden change of heart, and decided to abandon Penny at the animal shelter. For many days, Penny refused to eat, drink, or sleep. She was confused and traumatized from living apart from Deborah. Penny would growl and bark at every person and animal who passed by her kennel. She grew depressed. Fortunately, one of Deborahs doctors, Dr. Dominique, learned of Pennys situation, and worked with AVAS to facilitate immediate rescue for the dog. And Deborah provided Dr. Dominique with a handwritten letter confirming her final, dying wish: Please release Penny to TFPF so they can find her a forever home. Team TFPF was honored to accept Penny into our care. We are prepared to do whatever it takes to fulfill Deborahs last wish.
